The music is instrumental classic surf rock, inspired by Dick Dale . The band is based in Oslo and started in 1995 by Geir Emanuelsen ( bass guitar ) and Bjørn Haglund ( guitar ), both from Arendal. Arendalite Tom Rudi Torjussen ( Jim Stärk ) was the band's first drummer full-time (1995-1998), after Morten Pisani from Hornindal and Ottar Vigerstøl (ex Clawfinger ) had been temporarily in the band.

They released their debut album, which was a mini- CD called Pole Position in 1998. On that they had b. a. interpreted the popular newspaper "On the Mountain", which was used in the snowboard movie last winter. Morten Pisani , as well as Jørn Raknes (guitar) from Homborsund eventually became permanent. Pisani and Raknes, together with Haglund and Emanuelsen, have formed the band's crew since. The band recorded the theme song for the TV series Stompa for the children's album Broom Broom in 1999.

In 2001 , the music album missed Mission To Mir . Most of the music was self-composed, as well as an Edvard Grieg-music called "The Griegster". In 2004, the album came Scandinavian Interlude , and with bl. a. The track "Return Of The Griegster". The music of The Beat Tornados has p. a. been used in the feature films Capo Nord , Long Flat Ballet, Monstertorsdag, Gymnasium Pedersen and Kalde Feet.

The band has signed with the record label Wicked Cool Records , owned by Little Steven ( Steven Van Zandt ), known from Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band , and as Mafiaskurken Silvio Dante in the TV series The Sopranos . In December 2007, he heard the band was played in the "Angel's Speed ​​Equipment" store in Oslo and then contacted them for signing.
